Paynesville 5K Run and Walk Join us for the 1st annual Paynesville 5K Run and Walk to be held in conjunction with the Paynesville Area Triathlon. Runners and triathletes will share the same course. All runners should be ready to start once the last triathlete has left the transition area to begin biking. Announcements will be made when it is time to line up at the starting line. Due to the fact that this is the first year we have offered this 5K run, we are unable to know for sure how many shirts to order. Therefore, shirts will only be guaranteed to the first 50 people who register. After that it will be on a first come first serve basis. Be sure to stay for the awards as we have a great collection of door prizes that have been donated by our great sponsors!

The Course
This unique course is a blend of scenic lakeside property and beautifully paved roads. Set in West Central Minnesota in lake country. Lake Koronis is over 3,000 acres lined with oak trees and farmland. A few challenging hills are thrown in to keep your senses alive! (and make you break a sweat!) We hope to bring people out to recognize and enjoy the splendor this area has to offer.
Canoe / Kayak Route
We will have participants drop off canoes / kayaks at the Koronis Assembly Grounds on north side of Lake Koronis (see location on map), park cars on the other side of the road in the designated parking area. The start and transition area will be at the Assembly Grounds as well. Volunteers will guide boaters through the course. Some canoes (up to bout 20) may be available on a first come first served basis the day of the race. Rental fees are about $20. Life preservers are required!!!
Swim:
1/3 mile swim in beautiful Lake Koronis will begin and end on a sandy beach. A 1/6th of a mile lane line will keep you on course during the entire swim and swimmers are able to rest if necessary along the way by using the lane line or one of the volunteer boats. All swimmers are required to wear swim caps. Wetsuits can be rented from Wetsuitrentals.com.
Bike:
16 miles through rural, well-marked roads with beautiful scenery of rolling hills and fields. All cyclists must observe MN traffic laws. ANSI or SNELL approved hard-shelled helmets are required. Drafting is prohibited.
